1. General Provisions and Platform Operator
Taxee is a technology platform providing software and digital infrastructure to passengers, independent taxi companies, and their drivers.
The operator of the Taxee platform is:
LJet s.r.o.
Obchodná 39
811 06 Bratislava
Slovakia
IČO: 46 910 590
DIČ: 2023651465
IČ DPH (VAT): SK2023651465
Email: [email protected]
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data is processed when using Taxee, for what purposes it is used, to whom it may be disclosed, how long it may be retained, and what rights users have.
This Privacy Policy applies to:
- the Taxee passenger application;
- the Taxee Driver application;
- Taxee software services for taxi companies;
- Taxee server and technical infrastructure;
- related web services and the Taxee website.
This Privacy Policy has been prepared with regard to Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), and other applicable data protection laws.
2. Role of Taxee
Taxee is a technology platform and software provider.
LJet s.r.o. is not a taxi company, does not act as a carrier, and does not provide passenger transportation services.
Independent taxi companies use the Taxee software infrastructure to interact with their passengers and drivers, receive and process ride requests, manage trips, and use related digital services.
Passenger transportation services are provided directly by the relevant independent taxi company.
The transportation agreement is concluded between the passenger and the taxi company performing the relevant trip.
The use of the Taxee software infrastructure to create, transmit, or process a ride request does not make LJet s.r.o. a party to the transportation agreement.
LJet s.r.o. acts as a controller of personal data in relation to processing required for the creation and operation of Taxee accounts, the provision and protection of the platform, management of its own technical infrastructure, and other processing purposes carried out by LJet s.r.o.
Taxi companies are independently responsible for personal data processing carried out by them for the purpose of providing transportation services, complying with their legal obligations, and managing their relationships with passengers and drivers.
Depending on the specific processing activity, the role of LJet s.r.o., the taxi company, or a technical service provider is determined by the nature of the processing and applicable law.
3. Passenger Data
For the creation of an account and use of the Taxee passenger application, the following personal data may be processed:
- telephone number;
- name;
- email address;
- profile photo, if voluntarily added by the user;
- account identifier;
- authentication data;
- location data required for the use of relevant application functions;
- pickup address or coordinates;
- destination address or coordinates;
- date and time of the trip;
- distance;
- calculated fare;
- selected taxi company or information relating to the use of Pool;
- information about the assigned driver and vehicle;
- payment method;
- order status;
- trip history;
- information required to generate trip-related documents;
- technical information required for operation and security of the platform.
User authentication is performed using the telephone number and a one-time six-digit SMS code (OTP), including through Firebase Authentication.
The email address is used, among other purposes, for providing invoices, documents, and other necessary information related to trips and the user account.
Adding a passenger profile photo is optional.
4. Passenger Location Data
Taxee uses the passenger’s location when necessary for the operation of the application, identification of the pickup location, display of available services, and creation of a ride request.
The Taxee passenger application does not continuously track the passenger’s location in the background.
Location access is used in connection with active use of functions for which such information is necessary.
Users can manage location permissions through the settings of their mobile device.
If access to location data is disabled, certain Taxee functions may be limited or unavailable.
5. Driver Data
When registering for and using Taxee Driver, the following data may be processed:
- driver’s name;
- telephone number;
- email address;
- photograph;
- account identifier;
- information about the taxi company or companies with which the driver is associated;
- information about the vehicle being used;
- Online/Offline status;
- current location while Online;
- information about received, accepted, and completed ride requests;
- trip history;
- necessary calculation and accounting-related data;
- technical information about the application and device.
A driver may be associated with more than one independent taxi company and may switch between them using the available Taxee functionality.
LJet s.r.o. does not, on behalf of taxi companies, verify driving licences, professional permits, licences, or other documents required for the driver to provide passenger transportation services.
The relevant taxi company is responsible for verifying its drivers and ensuring compliance with the legal requirements applicable to transportation services.
6. Driver Location and Background Operation of Taxee Driver
When a driver sets their status to Online, Taxee Driver uses and transmits the driver’s current location to provide platform functions.
This may be necessary for:
- determining driver availability;
- identifying suitable ride requests;
- determining the distance to the pickup location;
- calculating estimated time of arrival;
- supporting an active trip;
- displaying vehicle movement to the passenger;
- supporting dispatching functions;
- maintaining reliable operation of the service while the application is running in the background.
While the driver remains Online, location transmission may continue when the application is operating in the background.
When the driver switches to Offline, transmission of location data for driver availability and distribution of new ride requests stops.
Taxee does not use driver background location for advertising profiling.
7. Information Required to Perform a Trip
For the performance of a ride request, Taxee provides the passenger, driver, and relevant taxi company with a limited amount of information required to process the relevant trip.
After a vehicle has been assigned, the passenger may be shown, in particular:
- the driver’s name;
- the driver’s photograph;
- vehicle information;
- vehicle registration number;
- the name of the relevant taxi company.
The driver may receive:
- the passenger’s name;
- pickup location;
- destination;
- calculated fare;
- other information necessary to perform the specific trip, where such functionality is available on the platform.
Communication between the participants in a trip may be provided directly or through technical communication services integrated into the platform, where such functionality is available.
Taxee seeks to limit the disclosure of personal data to the amount necessary for the relevant function and trip.
8. Taxi Companies
Taxi companies create and manage their Taxee accounts independently.
In connection with use of the platform, the following information may be processed:
- company name and company details;
- registration information;
- address;
- name and contact details of the company representative;
- telephone number;
- email address;
- information about vehicles;
- information about drivers;
- fare parameters;
- company settings;
- ride request and trip information;
- information about turnover recorded through the platform;
- calculation and billing data required for the commercial relationship between the company and LJet s.r.o.
The taxi company is independently responsible for the accuracy and lawfulness of the information it enters into Taxee.
Registration of a taxi company on Taxee does not in itself constitute licensing, certification, approval, or confirmation by LJet s.r.o. that the company is legally entitled to provide passenger transportation services.
As part of the standard registration process, LJet s.r.o. does not conduct advance legal verification of licences, permits, insurance, vehicles, driver documents, or other conditions applicable to each registered taxi company.
Each taxi company is independently responsible for holding all required licences, permits, insurance, vehicles, qualified drivers, and for complying with all other requirements imposed by applicable law.
9. Trip History
Taxee may retain information about completed trips, including:
- pickup and destination;
- date and time;
- distance;
- fare;
- driver;
- taxi company;
- vehicle;
- payment method;
- trip status;
- other information necessary in relation to the completed ride request.
Passengers may view the relevant information in the trip history section of their account.
As a rule, trip history in Taxee is retained for up to three years, unless a longer retention period is required by law, necessary for compliance with legal obligations, or required for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims.
10. Invoices and Trip Documents
After completion of a trip, an electronic invoice relating to the relevant transportation service may be generated through the Taxee software infrastructure.
The provider of the transportation service and the party on whose behalf the invoice for the transportation service is issued is the relevant taxi company, not LJet s.r.o.
The invoice may contain information about the transportation provider, passenger, trip, fare, and any other information required under applicable law.
The passenger may download the invoice in PDF format through the Taxee application. The invoice may also be sent to the passenger’s registered email address.
LJet s.r.o. provides the technical infrastructure used to generate, store, and deliver such documents.
The relevant taxi company is independently responsible for the content of its accounting and tax documents and for compliance with its applicable accounting and tax obligations.
11. Payments and Stripe
Where the passenger chooses to pay by bank card, payment processing is carried out through Stripe payment infrastructure.
LJet s.r.o. is not the recipient of passenger funds intended as payment for transportation services.
Funds paid for transportation services are processed through Stripe and directed to the relevant taxi company’s Stripe account.
LJet s.r.o. does not store the passenger’s full payment card number, CVC, or other full payment card details.
Stripe may perform its own identification, verification, and account servicing procedures in relation to connected taxi companies in accordance with its terms and applicable law.
LJet s.r.o. provides the technical integration between Stripe and the Taxee platform.
Separate payments made by a taxi company to LJet s.r.o. for use of the Taxee platform form part of the separate commercial relationship between LJet s.r.o. and that taxi company and do not constitute payment by the passenger for transportation services.
12. Purposes of Personal Data Processing
Personal data may be processed for the following purposes:
- registration and account management;
- identification and authentication of users;
- provision of Taxee and Taxee Driver functions;
- processing of ride requests;
- determination of driver availability;
- calculation of routes, distances, estimated arrival times, and fares;
- technical performance and support of trips;
- provision of trip history;
- generation, storage, and delivery of invoices;
- enabling integrations with payment services;
- sending necessary SMS messages, push notifications, and emails;
- provision of technical support;
- platform security;
- prevention of abuse and fraud;
- diagnosis and resolution of technical errors;
- analysis of software performance and stability;
- compliance with legal obligations;
- establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims.
LJet s.r.o. does not sell databases of personal data relating to passengers, drivers, or representatives of taxi companies to third parties.
Taxee does not use personal data collected for provision of the service for independent advertising email or SMS campaigns unless the user separately requests or agrees to such communication where permitted or required by applicable law.
13. Legal Bases for Processing
Depending on the specific purpose, personal data may be processed on the basis of:
- Performance of a contract or steps taken at the request of the user prior to entering into a contract — where processing is necessary to provide the relevant Taxee function.
- Compliance with a legal obligation — where processing or retention of information is required by applicable law.
- Legitimate interests — for example, ensuring security, preventing abuse, diagnosing technical problems, protecting infrastructure, and protecting the legitimate legal interests of LJet s.r.o.
- Consent — where applicable law requires the user’s prior consent for a specific processing activity.
Where processing is based on consent, the user may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before consent was withdrawn.
14. Service Communications
Taxee may send messages required for provision of the service, including:
- OTP codes;
- ride request status notifications;
- driver and vehicle information;
- trip-related information;
- push notifications;
- invoices and trip documents;
- account-related messages;
- security notifications;
- technical and administrative notices.
Such messages form part of the operation of the relevant platform functions and are not, in themselves, advertising communications.
Messages relating to a specific trip may display the name, logo, or other branding of the taxi company providing the relevant transportation service.
15. Technical Data
To ensure the operation, security, and diagnosis of Taxee, certain technical data may be processed automatically.
Depending on the device and function used, this may include:
- IP address;
- device and application identifiers;
- device type;
- operating system and version;
- application version;
- application or device language;
- date and time of requests;
- information about the network connection;
- crash logs and error logs;
- server logs;
- diagnostic data;
- information necessary to protect against abuse and maintain service stability.
Such data is used primarily for operation, security, diagnostics, and improvement of the technical stability of Taxee.
16. Technical Service Providers
To operate the platform, LJet s.r.o. uses or may use specialised technology and infrastructure providers.
Depending on the relevant function, these may include:
- Google / Firebase — authentication, OTP, push notifications, and related technical functions;
- Google Maps — mapping and geographic functions;
- Mapbox — mapping, routing, and geographic functions;
- Stripe — payment processing and Stripe Connect;
- Voximplant — communication and telephony functions;
- Chatwoot — support and communication functions;
- SendGrid — email delivery;
- SMS providers — delivery of SMS messages;
- Fornex — server and hosting infrastructure;
- Google Analytics — website analytics where used and where a lawful basis is available;
- other service providers where necessary for operation of the relevant Taxee services.
Access by such providers to personal data is limited to information required for performance of the relevant technical function, subject to applicable contractual and legal requirements.
Depending on the nature of the specific service, a provider may act as a processor or as an independent controller in relation to certain processing activities.
17. Storage and International Transfers
The primary Taxee server infrastructure is hosted in Germany.
Certain international technology providers may process data using infrastructure located in other countries.
Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area and applicable law requires specific safeguards, appropriate mechanisms are used, including adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, or other legally recognised transfer mechanisms.
18. Retention Periods
LJet s.r.o. does not retain personal data for longer than necessary for the relevant processing purpose.
As a general rule:
- active account data is retained for the lifetime of the account;
- trip history is retained for up to 3 years;
- technical and security logs are generally retained for no longer than 90 days;
- temporary authentication data is retained for the minimum period required for the relevant technical operation;
- financial, accounting, and tax records are retained for the period required by applicable law.
Certain information may be retained for a longer period where necessary to comply with a legal obligation, investigate an incident, prevent fraud, or establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
19. Account Deletion
Passengers and drivers may use the account deletion function available in the relevant application.
When an account is deleted, personal data is deleted or anonymised unless a lawful basis exists for continued retention.
Deletion of a Taxee account does not automatically delete information independently retained by an independent taxi company where that company is entitled or required to retain such information under its own legal, accounting, tax, or other obligations.
LJet s.r.o. does not control retention periods for data processed independently by a taxi company outside the purposes and infrastructure controlled by LJet s.r.o.
For questions regarding deletion of personal data, users may contact: [email protected]
20. Data Security
LJet s.r.o. applies appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, destruction, or loss.
Such measures may include:
- access rights management;
- access controls for systems;
- secure transmission of data;
- server security measures;
- technical event logging;
- backups;
- monitoring of technical infrastructure;
- other measures appropriate to the nature of the processed data and relevant risks.
Despite these measures, no information system or method of transmitting information over the internet can guarantee absolute security.
21. User Rights
Under the GDPR and other applicable data protection laws, users may, depending on the circumstances, have the right to:
- receive information about the processing of their personal data;
- obtain access to their personal data;
- obtain a copy of the personal data being processed;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
- request erasure of personal data where legal grounds exist;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format where the right to data portability applies;
- withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.
A user may, in particular, contact the supervisory authority in the European Economic Area country in which the user usually resides or works, or where the user believes an infringement of data protection law has occurred.
To exercise rights relating to processing carried out by LJet s.r.o., please contact: [email protected]
Where a request relates to personal data independently processed by the relevant taxi company as a controller, the user may need to contact that company directly.
Taxee may provide available information necessary to identify the relevant taxi company.
22. Minors
Taxee is not a service specifically directed at children.
Use of the service by minors and processing of their personal data are subject to the legal requirements applicable to the relevant user and service.
Where consent of a parent or legal guardian is required for a specific processing activity, such consent must be obtained in accordance with applicable law.
LJet s.r.o. may restrict access to certain functions where necessary to comply with legal requirements applicable to minors.
23. Automated Functions and Taxee Pool
Taxee uses software algorithms to perform technical platform functions, including identifying available drivers, processing ride requests, calculating routes, distances, estimated arrival times, and fares.
Each independent taxi company sets its own fares and fare parameters independently.
LJet s.r.o. does not set taxi company fares, minimum or maximum transportation prices, or the commercial fare conditions of individual taxi companies.
When Taxee Pool is used, the system calculates the estimated price of the same trip based on the fare parameters of taxi companies available for the relevant ride request.
Where several companies are available, the software algorithm automatically calculates the arithmetic mean of the corresponding calculated trip prices.
The resulting amount is displayed as the Pool price.
Accordingly, the underlying fares are independently determined by the taxi companies, while Taxee performs automated mathematical processing of those fares according to the Pool functionality.
Detailed rules governing Pool are set out in the Taxee Terms of Use.
24. Website, Cookies, and Analytics
The Taxee website serves as a supporting informational resource for the platform.
The website may use necessary cookies and similar technologies required for its operation.
Where a valid legal basis exists and, where required by law, after obtaining user consent, analytics technologies including Google Analytics may be used to obtain statistical information about website usage and improve its operation.
Taxee does not use cookies for independent advertising profiling of platform users unless the user is separately informed and an appropriate legal basis exists for such processing.
Users can manage non-essential cookies using the cookie controls available on the website and through their browser settings.
Refusing non-essential analytics cookies does not prevent use of the core functions of the website.
25. Disclosure of Personal Data
LJet s.r.o. does not sell personal data relating to passengers, drivers, or representatives of taxi companies.
Depending on the relevant function, personal data may be disclosed to:
- the relevant taxi company to the extent necessary to process and perform a trip;
- technical service providers required for the operation of Taxee;
- payment service providers when the relevant payment method is used;
- communication service providers for delivery of SMS, email, push notifications, or provision of communication functions;
- public authorities where disclosure is required by applicable law or a legally binding request;
- professional advisers or other recipients where necessary to comply with a legal obligation or protect legitimate legal rights.
LJet s.r.o. seeks to limit disclosure of personal data to the amount necessary for the relevant purpose.
26. Changes to this Privacy Policy
LJet s.r.o. may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including as a result of development of Taxee, introduction of new functionality, changes to technical infrastructure or service providers, or changes in applicable law.
The current version of this Privacy Policy is published on the official Taxee website.
The date of the latest update is stated at the beginning of this document.
Where changes are material, users may receive additional notice through the application, email, or another appropriate communication method.
